For over 40 years, I’ve watched the landscape of the metropolitan Washington area change drastically, with small suburban towns like Bethesda and Rockville being transformed into major employment centers and cultural destinations. Silver Spring has undergone an amazing revitalization, and the nation’s capital is again home to a major league baseball team and a highly sought-after place to live. The Northern Virginia suburbs are one of the east coast’s high-technology hubs, and areas like Tysons Corner and McLean offer shopping and restaurants that are world class.
